In addition to a solid curricular underpinning and clinical placement, graduates from the program gain the knowledge and skills required to be prepared to sit for the following certification exam:

  • The Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner board certification exam, administered by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACN)
  • The Family Nurse Practitioner national certification board exam, offered by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP)
  • The Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner board certification exam, administered by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC)

Professional Licensure Disclosure
The Master of Science in Nursing, with specializations in Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner, Family Nurse Practitioner, and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, is designed to prepare students for advanced practice. The requirements for professional licensure or certification vary by state. Scholarship Opportunities

Norwich Alumni Scholarship

Norwich University alumni and their spouses, parents, and children are eligible to receive our Alumni Scholarship. The scholarship is award for each term of enrollment at $425 per term.

Active Duty Military Scholarship

Active duty, National Guard, and Reserve personnel are eligible to receive a $250 award for each term of enrollment in an online master’s degree program.

Curriculum

Core Curriculum

The curriculum model adopted by our Post-Master’s Certificate in Nursing program aligns with the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) Master-Level education preparation standards — including the Master’s Essentials. The program curriculum is also aligned with the National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculties (NONPF) Nurse Practitioner Core Competencies. If you have not completed the Advanced Pharmacology, Advanced Physical Assessment, and Advanced Pathophysiology within the last five years, you will complete the needed courses as part of your certificate program with Norwich.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Hold a current, unencumbered RN license in your state of practice.
  • Hold a Master of Science in Nursing degree from a Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education nationally-accredited program.
  • If English is not your first language, proof of English language proficiency is required. This can be demonstrated in one of three ways:
    • TOEFL - a minimum score of 550 (paper-based test) or 80 (Internet-based test) is required.*
    • IELTS – a minimum composite score of 6.5 is required.*
    • The applicant holds a baccalaureate or master’s degree from a college/university/institution in which the primary language of instruction was English.

Please Note:  All eligibility requirements are expected to be met unless noted in specific articulation agreements or memoranda of understand (MOUs).

  • Official transcript of your conferred undergraduate degree from a regionally or nationally accredited university
  • Letter of intent
  • One letter of recommendation from a nurse leader/manager or supervisor that can attest to your readiness for all graduate-level work
    • The letter of recommendation should be submitted on professional letterhead
    • An additional letter of recommendation may be requested by the Program Director during the application review process
  • Proof of English language proficiency if applicable (TOEFL)
